The Waycross/Ware County Chamber of
Commerce is an association of over 400 businesses and professional people
organized to strengthen the local economy and enhance the overall quality of
life for the community through special events, promoting tourism, and
providing information, services and advocacy for our members.
|
The Chamber of Commerce is located in
historic downtown Waycross in building that formerly served as the rail
depot station. This building was renovated in 1998. In addition to the
Chamber offices it contains the Waycross Tourism Bureau and Visitor Center,
the Sports Hall of Fame, Downtown Waycross Development Authority and several
other businesses and nonprofit organizations.

In
addition to a downtown shopping district in the process of
revitalization, Waycross serves as a medical and retail
center for the surrounding eight counties. Satilla Health
Services in addition to operating Satilla Regional Medical
Center, operates two long term care facilities, a
rehabilitation hospital and several other medical entities.
Total retail sales in 2008 were in excess of $717,000,000.
