The program is a series of one-day sessions held January – October; with graduation in early November. Each day is chaired by graduates of the program who are responsible for setting up the day’s activities. The sessions include: Orientation, Bonding Retreat, Local Government Day, State Government Day, Regional Impact Day, Agriculture Day, Business & Industry Day, Human Services Day, Health & Fitness Day, Education Day, Arts & Tourism Day, Vision Retreat and Graduation. Bonding Retreat and State Government Day require overnight stays.
COMMITMENT
Leadership Waycross requires a serious commitment of both time and energy. Orientation, Bonding Retreat and Vision Retreat are mandatory. You must also complete 80% attendance of the remaining action-packed sessions. You will be glad that you did!
TUITION
Class fee is $750 for each participant. This includes program materials, meals, overnight lodging and transportation. Partial scholarships are available, thanks to involved community leaders!
SELECTION
Applications are accepted beginning in August of each year. Space is limited - the class size is limited to no more than 15 participants who are chosen from the applications submitted. The Program is managed by the LW Steering Committee, which is made up of active alumni members of the Leadership Waycross program. The Steering Committee makes the selections for the Class. Selection of a well-balanced class is important because much of the increased understanding and knowledge of the community comes from personal interactions within the group.
Everyone has leadership roles – men and women from business, industry, religious and civic groups, minority organizations, and the arts – but only those leaders that are willing to invest their time to gain the knowledge, can become GREAT leaders. Are you ready to become a better leader in your field? Will you commit to becoming involved in making Waycross and Ware County the BEST that it can be?
